Bump n Run

first_imgWHO’S HOTPlaxico Burress appears to be over the inconsistency that plagued him in Pittsburgh. With an NFL season-best 204 yards and two touchdowns on 10 catches last week, Burress has entered elite receiver territory. Though he won’t put up 200 yards a game, the many looks (second-most behind Terrell Owens) he is getting from Giants QB Eli Manning should assure he continues to do well on a regular basis. WHO’S NOTFormer UCLA quarterback Drew Bennett was the hottest receiver in the NFL down the stretch last year, with nine touchdowns in the final five games. In the first four games this season, he has yet to reach the end zone and obviously doesn’t play as big a role in Norm Chow’s offense. He had his worst game last week, with two catches for 20 yards against the Colts. ROOKIE WATCHMany NFL teams thought former USC linebacker Lofa Tatupu was too small to play in the NFL. So far, Tatupu is proving them wrong and justifying Seattle’s confidence in spending a second-round pick on him. Tatupu leads the Seahawks with 24 tackles this season. He recorded his second sack of the year last week against Washington. STAT LINELeague-high passer rating for Pittsburgh Steelers QB Ben Roethlisberger, who certainly isn’t going through a sophomore slump.
