first_imgThe national U-23 soccer squad lost its first practice derby to local football giant BYC I, in preparation for the 2015 CAF Cup first qualifying round against the Black Meteors of Ghana in Accra on Sunday, April 26.The reigning football champions hammered the U-23 Lone Star 3-1 at the Antoinette Tubman Stadium during their early morning practice.The U-23 Lone Star, dubbed the Satellites, drew with ELWA United, 1-1 and whipped LPRC Oilers 2-1.BYC’s striker Mark Paye raised the curtain in the 26th minute through a diagonal pass from Abraham Cokies. The 50 minutes first half ended 1-0 in favor of the Go-Blue boys, owing to an inconceivable penalty missed by central defender Alvin McCorneh.Despite the goal difference, both sides controlled the ball equally.BYC has a corner, four (4) throws; three shots (2) on target and three (3) off target; committed 12 fouls which resulted in three (3) yellow cards and a penalty.The U-23 team has two (2) corners, five (5) throws; shots three (3) on target and three (3) off target; committed 16 fouls and got a yellow card.Fifteen minutes into the second stanza, BYC hit man and goal-hero, Larmine Jabateh, increased the tally through an assist from Molley Gray. Three minutes later (68th minute), Karleo Andersson ended a pass from Blamo Nimely to 3-0.
