Just a couple months ago, funk fools descended on the St. Augustine Amphitheatre for the first-ever Fool’s Paradise. Hosted by Lettuce, the festival featured sets from GRiZ, Nth Power, Chris Robinson’s Soul Revue and, of course, Vulfpeck. The funk darlings brought out some special guests throughout their main stage set, including collaborating vocalist Antwaun Stanley and festival artist-at-large, Snarky Puppy keyboardist Cory Henry. The collaborations culminated in an all-star jam on the song “I Wish” by Stevie Wonder, letting loose for a crazy session for all to witness. As Vulfpeck continues to gain popularity, funk faithfuls can claim they saw it first at Fool’s Paradise 2016.Fortunately, the L4LM hosted festival has some exciting pro-shot footage of this jam to share. You can watch it all go down below, courtesy of John Peckham and Fool’s Paradise.More footage of audio of Vulfpeck’s two sets at Fool’s Paradise can be found here! Enjoy it, Funk Fools.
The administration held a fireworks display over the National Mall as night fell after Trump’s speech, despite Washington Mayor Muriel Bowser’s warnings that the mass spectator event would defy health officials’ guidance during the pandemic.Just steps from where Trump spoke, peaceful protesters marched down blocked-off streets around the White House, Black Lives Matter Plaza and the Lincoln Memorial. They were confronted by counter-protesters chanting, “USA! USA!” but there were no reports of violence.Millions of Americans have been demonstrating against police brutality and racial inequality since the May 25 killing of George Floyd, a 46-year-old Black man who died after a white Minneapolis police officer knelt on his neck for nearly nine minutes. In addition to achieving police reforms in some cities, some protesters have removed Confederate statues and other symbols of America’s legacy of slavery.”There have always been those who seek to lie about the past in order to gain power in the present, those that are lying about our history, those who want us to be ashamed of who we are,” Trump said on Saturday. “Their goal is demolition.” US President Donald Trump on Saturday vowed to defeat the “radical left,” in an Independence Day speech at the White House that condemned recent protests against monuments to historical figures as attempts to destroy the United States.Trump claimed without evidence that 99 percent of coronavirus cases in the United States were “totally harmless.” In fact, many states marked a record number of new COVID-19 cases. In Texas alone, 7,890 patients were hospitalized after 238 new admissions over the past 24 hours.Trump, who has faced criticism over his handling of the pandemic, said China must be “held accountable” for failing to contain the disease. Trump’s Fourth of July remarks doubled down on his speech the previous evening at Mount Rushmore in South Dakota where he accused “angry mobs” of trying to erase history and painted himself as a bulwark against left-wing extremism.Just months before November’s presidential election, opinion polls in key states show Trump trailing his Democratic rival, former Vice President Joe Biden. Biden wrote a Fourth of July opinion piece that struck a contrasting note with the Republican president and accused him of finding “new ways to tarnish and dismantle our democracy” every day.In a separate letter to donors, Biden said: “We have a chance now to give the marginalized, the demonized, the isolated, the oppressed, a full share of the American dream.”Trump, in his speech, also said the United States would have a vaccine or therapeutic solution to the virus “long before” the end of 2020. Such a success could help the US economy and Trump’s chances of re-election.On Thursday, a top US health official said he was optimistic the Trump administration’s vaccine-acceleration program “Operation Warp Speed” will generate a safe and effective vaccine for COVID-19 by year-end.Apart from fireworks spectators in Washington, activists of different stripes also appeared willing to disregard health warnings.Roar of the Deplorables, a bikers group, said via social media that they planned to gather to protest against what they call “the anti-Trump regime” and celebrate the nation’s birthday.Freedom Fighters DC, a new activist group which seeks to rally ethnically diverse supporters, especially the Black population of Washington, is one of the anti-racism groups ignoring the mayor’s heed to refrain from gathering.”Black folks are not free from the chains of oppression, so we don’t get to truly celebrate Independence Day,” said Kerrigan Williams, 22, one of the founders of the group, which will host a march and an arts demonstration on Saturday afternoon.”We’re marching today to showcase that Black folks are still fighting for the simple liberties that the constitution is said to provide.” Topics :
The attacking midfielder left Liverpool for Camp Nou in January 2018, but the move has not quite gone to plan, leading to him being loaned out to Bayern Munich this season. And with Bayern opting not to activate their option not to sign Coutinho on a permanent basis, speculation has strongly linked with him a return to the Premier League – most notably to Chelsea – and especially with Barcelona looking to cast aside a number of big names to help with their squad rebuilding. However, Leicester have also been mentioned as potential suitors for the Brazilian star, especially given the Foxes will likely be able to offer Coutinho Champions League football next season and owing to the fact that it was Rodgers who brought the player to England in the first place. However, in response to the rumours, Rodgers appears to have ended all talk of seeing Coutinho in a Liverpool shirt next season.Advertisement Rodgers said on Eamonn Holmes’ Eamonn and the Gaffers podcast: “I’ve seen lots of speculation around young Phil, I don’t think… Philippe’s a wonderful player, a brilliant talent, but he would be someone who is way out of our price bracket.” Reports have indicated that Barcelona have set a £75m asking price on Coutinho’s head – around half the fee they paid for him – but Rodgers expects many clubs to struggle to spend big money this summer in light of the global economic struggles that are impacting the game. Nonetheless, Rodgers insists Leicester are continuing to work behind the scenes on some potential incomings this summer and added: “In terms of transfers, it’s something that we’re tentatively looking at. read also:I’m going nowhere, Ndidi pledges future to Leicester City “The market I feel is going to be very difficult this year, this coming summer. “It’s one where we have discussions but there’s certainly nothing concrete at this stage.” FacebookTwitterWhatsAppEmail分享 Loading… Brendan Rodgers has conceded that Leicester have little to no chance of signing Philippe Coutinho amid claims Barcelona had put the Brazilian midfielder up for sale. Republican Congressman Steve King is drawing criticism from Democrats AND TWO of his Republican challengers for remarks King made Wednesday morning about his “heartbeat bill” that has no exceptions for rape and incest and would ban nearly all abortions.“What if it was okay and what if we went back through all the family trees and just pulled those people out that were products of rape and incest? Would there be any population of the world left if we did that considering all the wars and all the rape and pillage that’s taken place and whatever happened in culture after society?” King asked rhetorically today. “I know I can’t certify I’m not part of a product of that.”King made his comments this (Wednesday) morning at the Westside Conservative Club in Urbandale. Last year King argued abortion opponents needed to “swing for the fences” since President Trump had secured a conservative majority on the U.S. Supreme Court. King introduced “The Heartbeat Protection Act” which would effectively ban abortions after about the sixth week of a pregnancy.“Maybe we could have gotten that to the floor if I had compromised. It wasn’t going to move through the senate anyway,” King said, “but we still stand on these principles of life.” State Senator Randy Feenstra of Hull, one of the Republicans who’s challenging King’s bid for a 10th term, tweeted that he is “100 percent pro-life” but Feenstra said “King’s bizarre comments and behavior diminish” the pro-life cause. Woodbury County Supervisor Jeremy Taylor, another G-O-P challenger, says King’s comments aren’t helpful.“I’m a champion for the unborn and will fight for the right to life at all turns…but Congressman King continues to be in the press for all the wrong reasons and the comments will not help to take back the seat in congress that’s now in jeopardy.”Most of the Democratic presidential candidates have commented on King’s remarks about rape and incest, too. New Jersey Senator Cory Booker released a written statement calling on King to resign. New York Senator Kirsten Gillibrand tweeted the same message. Former Texas Congressman Beto O’Rourke castigated King and tweeted out a link for donations to J.D. Scholten. Scholten is the Democrat who’s running again in the fourth congressional district after coming within three percentage points of defeating King in 2018. Scholten issued a written statement, saying “excusing violence — in any way — is unacceptable” and he’s called King’s comments on rape and incest “disrespectful to surivors.”
